Sate-Style Chicken Skewers Recipe

These chicken skewers really pack a punch. They're full of flavour!

Keep your flame on low - medium so you don’t burn the chicken or the marinade.


Mini chicken skewers cooking on a BBQ5 cloves garlic, crushed

4cm piece ginger, grated

1 heaped tsp cumin

1 heaped tsp coriander

1 heaped tbsp turmeric

1 tsp salt

1 heaped tsp sugar

3 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp desiccated or fresh grated coconut

2 tbsp ketjap manis


7 chicken thigh fillets, cut into small cubes

Combine all marinade ingredients in a bowl and add the chicken marinate for at least an hour or overnight

Soak skewers in water so they don’t burn or better yet, use metal skewers

Tread marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers

Preheat you BBQ and grill skewers until just cooked though, about 8 mins.
